Danny Ler is a sustainability and risk leader with a strong engineering background and a proven track record across the power generation, precision manufacturing, aerospace, and semiconductor equipment industries. He currently heads the Group Risk & Sustainability function at SAM Group, a multinational manufacturer serving global clients across complex value chains.

Danny oversees enterprise-wide ESG strategy, risk governance, and business continuity management (BCM). He has led the development and implementation of integrated ESG and risk frameworks, aligning with international standards such as GRI, ISSB, SASB, Bursa Malaysia, and ISO 31000. His role includes both internal governance and external stakeholder engagement.

His leadership has helped shape the organisation's long-term ESG trajectory through several key achievements:
• Secured the Group’s inaugural inclusion in the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia and Shariah Indexes, raising its ESG rating by over 20%
• Led the company to win Company of the Year – ESG Leadership at the Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards 2025
• Launched the Group’s 2030 Solar PV Target of 10,000MWh annually
• Delivered board-level insights on risk, climate strategy, and sustainability performance

Certified in ESG Reporting and ISO 31000 Risk Management, Danny brings cross-industry experience in risk assessments, policy design, and ESG integration. His early career in CCGT power generation and control systems shaped his operational mindset, which now informs his strategic work across multiple industries and international contexts.

Danny’s approach blends systems thinking, strategic foresight, and technical execution. A lifelong advocate for climate action and sustainable development, he previously contributed to early advocacy for zero-carbon development through grassroots leadership with Generation Zero (New Zealand) and is passionate about climate strategy, clean energy, and global risk resilience.
