My career is defined by a consistent ability to navigate high-stakes regulatory regimes and deliver commercially sound legal strategies across diverse global markets. Currently, I serve as Senior Corporate Counsel and Data Protection Officer (DPO) at hSenid Business Solutions PLC (PeoplesHR), a premier HRIS provider in Southeast Asia. In this capacity, I direct the legal and data governance architecture for operations spanning Singapore, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Indonesia, Kenya, the UAE, India, and Bangladesh. My remit includes the end-to-end management of Contract Lifecycles (CLM), Intellectual Property (IP) portfolios, and complex Data Protection Governance frameworks, Corporate Affairs and providing legal advise.
My expertise in the technology sector was further sharpened during my tenure as Assistant Manager – Legal at Axiata Digital Labs, where I led contract negotiations and stakeholder advisory. This corporate experience is complemented by a distinguished background in Regulatory Advisory and International Tax. As an Independent Legal Consultant, I have collaborated with Deloitte, providing strategic counsel on international tax structures, corporate transactions, and cross-border regulatory frameworks. This specialized knowledge was built during my early career at Deloitte Sri Lanka, where I focused on international tax law and high-value tax litigation, assisting in landmark appeals before the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal of Sri Lanka.
Driven by a commitment to policy and systemic reform, my early career included a pivotal tenure with UNICEF’s Child Protection and Juvenile Justice Project. This experience in legal research and policy development instilled in me a rigorous approach to stakeholder coordination and the ability to steer through the nuances of public-private sector engagement.
I am an active contributor to the international legal fraternity, recently serving as a featured speaker at LAWASIA 2025 in Vietnam, where I addressed the Technology, Communication, and Data Protection Session. My commitment to legal excellence and mentorship was further demonstrated by my appointment as a Judge at the International Rounds of the LAWASIA 2025 Moot Court Competition.
Currently, I am at the final stages of my LL.M. in International Business Law at the University of London, with a specialized focus on International Tax Law, Transfer of Technology Law, and FinTech Regulations. My career goal is to continue bridging the gap between innovative technology and strong legal compliance, serving as a strategic catalyst for organizations that require support to wade through complexities of the global digital economy.
